The Friends of Wellard Bushland was formed by a group of local community members who share a vision to preserve our local bushlands, wetlands and reserves and ensure that these pristine areas are maintained for all future generations.
Our area of interest covers two wetlands plus a 17 hectare Bush Forever site which is actually part of the larger 959.8 ha bushland site known as the Leda and Adjacent Bushland, Leda (ref: WALGA) The total Leda bushland area is larger than Kings Park where the Banksia, Jarrah and Tuart woodland is home to the Brush Tailed Possum and the Southern Bandicoot, “Quenda”.

There are also a large variety of local wildflowers including Orchids amongst the bushland that exhibit a vibrant display from September till November.
The Friends of Wellard Bushland seeks to ensure our community remains connected to valuing our bushland, wetlands and reserves by:
- Supporting the provision of sensitive recreational opportunities within the natural assets.
- Assisting with the restoration of the local environment.
- Promoting and raising community awareness of local natural assets.
- Recognising and preserving local heritage.
- Educating the local community about its environmental assets.
